1937 Cord 812 SC Sportsman

$410,000.00

The Cord 810, the flathead eight cylinder front wheel drive car with a "coffin shaped" nose and mechanical hideaway headlights was an instant sensation when it was introduced at the 1935 New York auto show. Apparently the crowds were so large around the Cord display that onlookers had to stand on other cars just so they could get a peek at the new Cords. In 1937 the 812 was introduced and it was essentially unchanged other than a few minor details and the now available option of having a supercharger and outside exhaust pipes boosting output to 200HP. The depression finally took a toll on the Cord company and 1937 would be its final year. The Sportsman was the two seat roadster version of the 810 and 812, only 67 812 Sportsmans were ever produced.

Offered here is one of the original 812 Cord Sportsmans in its ultimate form, a supercharged model with outside exhaust pipes. Its history traces back to Italy where it was found in the 1980's by famous Italian collector Count Zenon. It was owned by an owner of a horse racing track outside of Torino along with a 1934 Packard Twelve. He would use the cars to pace the horses until the 1960's when they were put into storage and ultimately sold to Count Zenon in the early 1970's. We purchased both cars from Count Zenon in the early 1990's. While we sold the '34 Packard, we decided to completely restore the Cord Sportsman to how you see it today. The restoration is a concours level restoration and still looks absolutely superb. It is one of very few Sportsmans sold new outside of the United States. It retains all of its original numbers and tags. A stunning car finished in black with a red interior and it runs and drives incredibly well. please contact us for more information.
