Gilbert Barker T8 Gas Pump

$4,500.00

The Gilbert & Barker Company was founded in 1865 by Charles Gilbert and John Barker in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Their first product was a lamp that burned kerosene, but they soon moved in to gasoline dispensing products and by 1910 had produced a hand-operated pump to its product line. These were primitive hand cranked pumps that were able to measure up to five gallons of gasoline. Offered here is one of Gilbert Barker’s first pumps, a T8 model finished in Shell Motor Spirits livery. This is a handsome pump measuring over seven feet tall and is restored, but not operational. It features two heavy duty cast iron doors on each side that open to reveal its inner workings. The globe lights up for a stunning effect and its red and yellow Shell livery makes for beautiful appearance. This pump is circa 1920s and would make for a dazzling display in any brass or prewar collection.
