2001 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe
The Dodge Viper has gone down in history as one of the most iconic American sports cars of all time. Big horsepower, lots of torque and amazing looks. Debuting in 1991 at the Indianapolis 500, it was an instant hit. The V10 engine was developed with the help of Lamborghini, owned by the Chrysler corporation at the time, producing 400 horsepower with 465 ft lbs of torque. With the introduction of the SRII, hosepower increased to 415.
The second-generation Dodge Viper (SR II) debuted in 1996 with a GTS coupe variant made available later in the year. Referred to by some as the “double bubble,” the roof featured raised sections to accommodate driver and passenger helmets. The design drew inspiration from Peter Brock’s Shelby Cobra Daytona. The GTS was also the first comfortable variant of the Dodge Viper, fitted with air-conditioning, power windows, and locks as standard equipment.
2002 marked the final year of the SR II Dodge Viper, so the last couple of years of production are the most refined of all the first and second generation cars becoming the most sought after versions of the legendary American sports car.
